The management software Scout Enterprise provides manageability of an unlimited number of Thin Clients or PCs with eLux®
on 4 levels: firmware, device configuration, server connectivity and online commands. Moreover, Scout Enterprise offers multiple
administrator policies, database support (ODBC) and open interfaces for third party management tools. |
Mapping of Company Structures |

Every organizational or site structure of a company can be mapped with Scout Enterprise - be it home offices, branches or structures
in large, international companies with many sites and thousands of clients. The new
structure with an arbitrary number of organization units on
different levels provides a very flexible "inheritance"
of configuration, applications and properties. The highly comfortable graphical user interface allows to relocate a
device by drag&drop. |
Multiple Administrator policies |
| The single administrators
cannot only be assigned specific organization units, but also the management
functions can be specified exactly matching their responsibilites and skills. |
Discovery Function |
| By
means of this function Thin Clients, which are attached to a network and get their network configuration,
e.g., from a DHCP server, are automatically identified and thus may be assigned to an already defined
organization unit. Each organization
unit then has
a user profile
which defines
the
connections to
the
corresponding
servers and
their
applications.
Starting from
this point the
workstation is
perfectly
ready for
Server-based
Computing. |
High
Availability |
| An
optional
number of
entities (or
instances) of
the Scout
services can
be installed
on different
servers which
backup each
other.
Moreover,
there is a
load balancing
between the
different
servers. The
clients are
informed
automatically.
If,
nevertheless,
the network to
the Scout
servers should
break down or
the Scout
servers have
to be
replaced, the
Thin Client
uses the last
centrally
loaded
configuration
prior to the
break-down,
and thus works
without any
restrictions.
The
configuration
data and
license
information is
stored in the
Scout database
and easily
transferred to
the new
installation. |
Image Updates |
|
Even to
update application
software, such as a
browser or ICA clients,
you need not move. Scout
enables you to install a
new version centrally, and
you determine the point of
time. So it is possible to
have several hundred Thin
Clients updated
automatically during
nighttime without
supervision. |
Helpdesk Functionality |
| For
help desk
functionality
mirroring via
VNC is
available with
the benefits,
that mirroring
allows support
for users who
have questions
to an
application,
all
applications
running on the
desktop will
be supported,
and the
helpdesk can
take over
keyboard input
as well as
mouse input. |
